un human rights councilThe United Nations Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Transnational Corporations and Other Business Enterprises with respect to Human Rights (OEIGWG) was established on 26 June 2014 by the UN Human Rights Council. Its mandate is to “elaborate an international legally binding instrument to regulate, in international human rights law, the activities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises”.

On 16 July 2018, after a series of informal consultations and meetings, the Permanent Mission of Ecuador has released the first draft of the legally binding instrument, that will be negotiated during the 4th Session of the OEIGWG which will take place from 15 to 19 October 2018.
